Week 9 NFL Betting Guide

Posted by Jackson Anthony on 11/5/2011 1:06:44 PM

One week is an eternity in the NFL. You just never really know what's going to happen week in and week out in this league.

In order to help with this, we've created a weekly betting guide to help summarize the news from week-to-week and offer our take on each game.

Good luck.

Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts
1 PM ET
Odds:
Atlanta -7
Indianapolis +7

The Pick: Indianapolis +7
Teams coming off their bye have been awful this year. Although the bye week may have been good for the Falcons with WR Julio Jones returning to the lineup but we see a let down game for the Falcons travelling on the road.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
1 PM ET
Odds:
Tampa Bay +8.5
New Orleans -8.5

The Pick: Tampa Bay +8.5
The return of starting RB LeGarrette Blount will help keep Drew Brees off the field. The Saints are undefeated at home (3-0) but the Buccaneers will keep it close. In their previous matchup this year in Tampa, New Orleans fell 26-20.

Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans
1 PM ET
Odds:
Cleveland +10.5
Houston -10.5

The Pick: Houston -10.5
No Peyton Hillis again for the Browns means trouble. Hillis injured his hammy in Friday's practice meaning that Chris Ogbonnaya will be the starting running for the Browns. Take the Texans with confidence.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
1 PM ET
Odds:
New York Jets +2.5
Buffalo Bills -2.5

The Pick: New York Jets +2.5
WR Stevie Johnson will be blanketed all day by Darrelle Revis making it tough for Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to find an outlet in the passing game. With Revis locking down Johnson, the Jets will be able to give more attention to shutting down Bills RB Fred Jackson - who is having a career year.

Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs
1 PM ET
Odds:
Miami +4
Kansas City -4

The Pick: Kansas City -4
Gotta love the beard. Chiefs head coach Todd Haley and his lucky beard, have won 4 straight and now sit atop the AFC West at 4-3. The Dolphins meanwhile, can't buy a win. The Chiefs at home against a bad Dolphins road team makes this one easy.

San Francisco 49ers at Washington Redskins
1 PM ET
Odds:
San Francisco -4
Washington +4

The Pick: San Francisco -4
The 49ers are 6-1 and the Redskins have lost 3 straight. Washington's running game needs to be stronger but with John Beck at QB, the 49ers will make Beck try to beat them. Beck has only 1 pass TD on the year and just doesn't of the aerial weapons with Santana Moss out.

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys
1 PM ET
Odds:
Seattle +11.5
Dallas -11.5

The Pick: Dallas -11.5
The return of QB Tarvaris Jackson to the lineup is a plus for the Seahawks but we see a bouce back game for the Cowboys in this one. It's a big spread but if Dallas can get ahead early, they have all the talent in the world to blow this game wide open.

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders
4:05 PM ET
Odds:
Denver +7
Oakland -7

The Pick: Denver +7
The Broncos offense couldn't be any worse than they were last week against the Lions. The Raiders are coming off a bye and a 28-0 loss against the Chiefs. Denver will keep it close.

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans
4:05 PM ET
Odds:
Cincinnati +3
Tennessee -3

The Pick: Cincinnati +3
The Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) have been a pleasant surprise. Their defense is surprisingly stout and their 2 losses were by 2 and 5 points. The Bengals are a nice underdog play here.

St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals
4:15 PM ET
Odds:
St. Louis +2.5
Arizona -2.5

The Pick: St. Louis +2.5
The Cardinals can't stop anyone and the way Rams RB Stephen Jackson played last week, the Rams should pull out a win on the road.

New York Giants at New England Patriots
4:15 PM ET
Odds:
New York Giants +9
New England -9

The Pick: New England -9
Wes Welker says he's fine and Tom Brady should have a much easier time picking apart a soft Giants secondary. New York's pass rush can be strong, but Brady's quick release and the Patriots short passing attack should keep Brady off his back.

Green Bay Packers at San Diego Chargers
4:15 PM ET
Odds:
Green Bay -5.5
Chargers +5.5

The Pick: Green Bay -5.5
Yes, the Chargers play their best football at home, but no Ryan Mathews means less explosiveness out of the backfield for San Diego. Aaron Rodgers is playing out of his mind and looks like one of those guys you just don't bet against right now.

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
8:30 PM ET, Sunday
Odds:
Baltimore +3
Pittsburgh -3

The Pick: Baltimore +3
This will be a defensive struggle and RB Ray Rice will be the difference maker for the Ravens. He racked up 149 total yards from scrimmage in Week 1 against the Steelers.

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles
8:35 PM ET, Monday
Odds:
Chicago +7.5
Philadelphia -7.5

The Pick: Philadelphia -7.5
The Eagles are back on track. Vick looks good and their defense is finally gelling. Watch out NFC.
