NFL Lines - Week 8 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

Posted by Brett Nielson on 10/25/2011 9:04:09 AM

This NFL lines Week 7, a few Quarterbacks will played their first game of the year, which made for some very interesting and unpredictable outcomes.

Some of these signal callers were worth the gamble, especially with Tom Brady, Michael Vick, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Eli Manning all on a bye this week.

Carson Palmer
Al Saunders, the Oakland Raiders’ offensive coordinator was quoted as saying that Palmer will start Sunday, “as long as he’s breathing”.

So you probably noticed Palmer was not ready this Sunday. Carson Palmer tossed three interceptions in the Raiders surprising loss against the Chiefs.

Tim Tebow
After a slow start against the Miami Dolphins (0-6) on Sunday, Tim Tebow led the Denver Broncos on to a stunning come-from-behind 4th quarter comeback.

Though the Denver Broncos lost star receiver Brandon Lloyd to the St. Louis Rams during the week, Tebow put up strong fantasy numbers. Tebow’s biggest asset is his threat to score with his legs in the red zone.

John Beck
Beck owed his start this weekend to Rex Grossman, who had an atrocious game last weekend during Washington’s 20-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Having had an off day is a gross understatement (no pun intended) for Grossman, who threw four interceptions in the Redskins’ loss to their division rivals.

Beck was originally slated to be the Redskins’ starter this year, but was relegated to the bench after a poor pre-season. Beck played well from a fantasy standpoint, throwing for 279 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He also added a rushing touchdown to his total.

Beck’s mobility makes him a tempting flex play for fantasy owners. However, keep in mind the loss of lead receiver Santana Moss for several weeks. Beck will need to find a dependable target elsewhere.

Christian Ponder
As with Beck, Ponder owes his start this week to the sub-par performances of veteran Donovan McNabb, who has led the Vikings to a porous 1-5 record thus far. Ponder, who was drafted 12th overall in the 2011 NFL lines Draft, is a player of talent and potential.

Although his stats didn’t show it, the rookie quarterback made some impressive plays against the Packers. Ponder is extremely mobile in the pocket and is capable of making excellent throws on the run. Although he only threw for 219 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, Ponder may very well turn out to be an established star in the NFL.
