NFL Lines – Nike Re-Signs Vick

Posted by Brett Nielson on 7/12/2011 9:26:30 AM

After four years, Nike has agreed to welcome back Michael Vick, signing him to another endorsement deal.

2010-2011 Season
Philadelphia Eagles vs. NFL: 10-6
Philadelphia Eagles vs. NFC East: 4-2

NorthBet Numbers: Philadelphia Eagles were 7-9 ATS this season.

Nike first signed Michael Vick in his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons in 2001, after he became the first ever African-American quarterback to be selected first overall in an NFL lines Draft. He proved to be very profitable for the sports company right out of the gate, as he was selected to three Pro Bowls in the first five years of his career.

Sadly, though, they were forced to terminate his contract in August of 2007 after he pleaded guilty to being involved in dog fighting, and was sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Since falling from grace in 2007, Vick has taken steps toward redemption. He publicly took responsibility for his actions and accepted his sentence in prison, serving his time. He is now getting his career back on track, as demonstrated by his spectacular performance last NFL lines season.

This past season, Michael Vick posted record numbers, completing 62.6 percent of his passing attempts for 3,018 passing yards, 21 touchdowns through the air, 9 rushing touchdowns, and finished the year with a passer rating of 100.2. As a result, the 31-year-old was rewarded for his efforts with the 2010 NFL Comeback Player of the year Award.

The endorsement deal is a testament to Vick’s skill and dedication as an athlete, not only to self-improvement, but team improvement as well.

As an individual who thrives on confidence, this endorsement should only boost Vick’s performance. The 10-year-pro should once again tear up the league this season with his threatening speed and rocket arm.

With Michael Vick as their leader, look for the Philadelphia Eagles to have another great NFL lines year, hopefully… starting this fall.
