One of the biggest NFL lines free agents this year is Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte.

Injuries Hurt Bears

Before he had a season-ending knee injury with 4 games remaining in the regular season, Forte led the Bears with 1,487 yards from scrimmage. The Pro Bowl running back was a workhorse for the Chicago offense, and showed that he deserves to be paid like a top tier NFL back.

The Bears seemed like they were on their way to the Playoffs in 2011, before they lost starting quarterback Jay Cutler and Forte during the final stretch of the NFL lines regular season.

Lovie Loves Forte

Chicago head coach Lovie Smith echoed the importance of Forte to the Bears franchise, “I think we are on record to how important Matt is to our organization.”

Last summer the Bears and Forte could not get a deal done that was rumored to contain $13-14 million in guaranteed money.

With the Green Bay Packers and emerging Detriot Lions, the NFC North division is only getting stronger, and the Bears cannot afford to lose Forte if they want to stay competitive.
