Two of the most motivated teams in the NFL will battle it out in Week 1 this NFL lines Sunday.

The Detroit Lions (also known as the NFL’s renown 2011 sleeper team) will try to start their NFL lines season right with a victory over the Tamps Bay Buccaneers, but I don’t think that the win will come that easily.

The Buccaneers boast the youngest team in the league (with an average age of less than 26), but have surprisingly earned themselves the reputation of being one of the most promising.

Last year, Tampa Bay entered the regular season as the team with the biggest question marks. Coming out of the gate, their entire offense had been revamped. The Buccaneers held a sophomore quarterback in Josh Freeman, two rookie wide receivers in Mike Williams and Arrelious Benn, and a rookie running back LeGarrette Blount.

It looked as though the NFL lines season would have been a rebuilding one for this young squad, which meant nobody expected anything more than for them to finish third in the NFC South.

Well, while they did end up finishing third in the their division, it was definitely not caused by a lack of success. In their rebuilding campaign, the Bucs still managed to edge out 10 NFL lines victories, and were just one win away from reaching the postseason.

However, their success was not completely created by their offense, as their young defense was also a huge contributor. Despite having six rookies on defense, the Buccaneers still managed to make a considerable impression on their oppositions. Tampa Bay ranked in the top ten of the NFL in many defensive categories like passing defense, interceptions, and points allowed.

Now that they’ve used five of their eight Draft picks to select defensive players, I am confident that their defense will significantly improve from last year’s statistics. Their biggest weakness – their run defense (which ranked 28th last season) – has been rejuvenated thanks to Tampa Bay’s decision to select two defensive ends and one linebacker with their first three Draft picks.

Expect the Buccaneers to give Detroit much less to play with than they did last year in their 23-20 overtime loss to the Lions.

Marcello’s Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 31, Detroit
