Both teams are 2-0 in NFL Lines, and it has been four years since the Lions started this hot.  In fact, in the past three seasons, Detroit has started out winless.

Detroit has displayed many qualities of a team that should be considered a contender in 2011. The Lions rank in the top half of NFL Lines in passing yards and rushing yards per game.  In addition to their offensive development, Detroit has established an intimidating defense.

The most impressive piece to Detroit has been Matthew Stafford.  Although he has been the starter since 2009, he has only started a total of 15 games under center.

This two-game winning streak marks Stafford’s career high in wins per season, as he had two wins in 2009. Despite injuries from last year, Stafford has come out hot. He has thrown for 599 yards and seven touchdowns, so far and is quickly developing into a top-tier quarterback, one who can make a defense pay.

In addition, Stafford has no shortage of weapons, with 6’5’’ pro-bowl receiver Calvin Johnson and a healthy Jahvid Best in the backfield.

If the Lions can stay healthy, things could get interesting in the NFC North bet division this year.
