NFL Lines: Buffalo To Run Over Philadelphia

Posted by Brett Nielson on 10/7/2011 5:23:25 AM

NFL Lines Week five presents a conference rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions.

Except how many times do you that the undefeated Lions are atop of the NFC North division, tied with Green Bay. The Lions have displayed qualities of competition, finally.   The Bears are 2-2 and do not have the defense able to stop the red hot Detroit offense.

Bears +5
Lions -5

The Chicago Bears are allowing about 301 yards per game this season.  However, they have played some pretty potent teams in Atlanta, New Orleans, Green Bay and Carolina.  All these teams have been airing it out all year long, and have had great success. Either it’s bad luck of the schedule or the Bears’ defense is just sub par.

Despite that the Bears are 2-2, the team has been inconsistent and lacks a sense of motivation.  And with Calvin Johnson waiting in Detroit, Bears’ fans must be nervous.  Calvin Jonson, aka Megatron, has been going off this year.

On twenty-four receptions Calvin Johnson has 321 yards and eight touchdowns.  He is averaging 13.4 yards per reception, that’s a first down every completion.  Of his twenty-four receptions, one-third of them are touchdowns.  Averaging two touchdowns each game, the Bear’s defense faces a big problem.

Furthermore, Matthew Stafford has stepped his game up and has proven that he is a legitimate winner.  According to NFL Lines, the young quarterback is averaging 304 yards per game.  And at home is when he plays the best.  His only home game this year, against Kansas City, he threw four touchdowns with 294 yards.

Expect the Lions to come out firing.  With no one able to match-up against Calvin Johnson, Detroit has a superb advantage.  Double even triple team Johnson, it won’t matter, he is that good.
