NFL Lines – 49ers Sign Super Bowl Star

The San Francisco 49ers have recently reached an agreement with wide receiver Mario Manningham on a two-year contract. This will be the second big-time signing the San Francisco 49ers will have made this off-season, after inking wide receiver Randy Moss last NFL lines week.

Improved Offense
Manningham will indeed be linking up with a much improved 49ers offense that includes Randy Moss, and Michael Crabtree (who finished last NFL lines season with 72 receptions for 874 yards and four touchdowns). The 49ers are also currently undergoing talks with Peyton Manning, whose mind may indeed have been swayed by the recent signings of Manningham and Moss.

The 6’0’’, 185lbs ex-Giants wide receiver finished his 2012 season with 39 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns in 12 regular season games. In his post-season run with New York, he recorded three touchdowns, including one against San Francisco.

Increased Opportunities
Manningham has spent the last four years in New York with the Giants, where he recorded 2,315 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. Last year in particular, he had to compete with Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz for a starting spot.

With an unpredictable Randy Moss, Manningham should see an increase in opportunities with his new team. Mario has shown some glimpses of brilliance, including his 2010 season where he recorded 60 receptions for 944 yards and 9 touchdowns. The 25-year-old simply needs to work on his consistency, and prove that he can indeed be a number one wide receiver in the NFL.

The Final Pieces
The 49ers recently ended an 8-year playoff draught under the leadership of coach Jim Harbaugh last NFL lines season. Most of their defensive corps will remain untouched entering into next season, after the signing of cornerback Carlos Rogers to $31.3 million deal last week.
With their recent signings of Moss, Manningham, and Rogers, along with the potential addition of Peyton Manning, the 49ers are starting to look like the real deal.
