The Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts open up their NFL lines regular seasons with what could be the deciding match for the top spot in the AFC South.

Though, despite all of its meaning, the possible division title that could be won in this NFL lines matchup is not even the headline for this game going into Sunday. Rather, it is Peyton Manning’s injury that has been attracting all of the media attention.

Just in case you live in a remote city that gets no sports news whatsoever, I will share this well-known piece of information with you: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning injured his neck late last NFL lines season and has still not fully recovered from surgery.

Manning underwent neck surgery in late May and was supposed to recover completely in just a few weeks. However, as a result of this summer’s NFL lockout, the 35-year-old quarterback could not meet with team doctors and therefore was unable to fully recuperate his mobility. Because the lockout ended just about a month ago, Manning has still not yet been given the time to heal. Consequently, the Colts management have decided that it is in their best interest to have him sit out the regular season opener than to lose him for the entire NFL lines season.

Therefore, the Houston Texans have been declared the favorite in this matchup, given 8 points to cover.

I truly believe that the Texans will wake up Monday morning with a huge smile on each of their faces, knowing that they started the season off with a ‘W’ – and also that Indianapolis started off 0-1.

The reason for this is because, logically speaking, this Sunday, the nation will see the Colts at the weakest they have been in more than a decade. It is no secret that Peyton runs the Colts’ entire offense. It’s the only reason why they offered to make him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL (ironically, in the midst of the only injury of his career). And it’s not as though Indianapolis really has a strong defense that they can fall back on – especially one that can hold back Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson and Arian Foster.

Indianapolis allowed 24.3 points per game last NFL lines season – 10th in the league – and also allowed the 13th-most all-purpose yards. For this reason alone, I recommend putting your money on the Houston Texans.

Brett’s Prediction: Houston Texans: 31, Indianapolis Colts: 7

Nielson Notice: Peyton Manning will end his consecutive starts record this Sunday at 208, tied for eighth all-time with Derrick Brooks.

NFL Expert Pick: Houston Texans -8
