A tough defeat against the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving Day may have knocked the Dallas Cowboys out of the playoff picture, but the Cowboys showed they are still capable of competing against the best NFL expert pick teams.

NFL Expert Pick
Indianapolis Colts -5
Dallas Cowboys +5
Total 47.5

It will be interesting to see how Cowboys coach Jason Garrett handles his first game after a loss as a head coach this NFL expert pick Sunday against the Colts.

Despite their loss to the Saints last week, Dallas did show tremendous upside.

With New Orleans doubling rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant, the Cowboys couldn’t get anything going offensively at the start of the game, managing just two field goals.

However, Garrett decided to go a different direction at the half, letting Bryant turn into a decoy and opting for some inventive play calling.

Barely one minute into the second half, wide receiver Miles Austin ran an end-around to the left, breaking lose for a 60-yard touchdown.

The Cowboys scored 24 points in the second half, coming up a field goal short in this NFL expert pick game.

Garrett is likely to employ a similar approach this Sunday against a generous Colts defense.

Indianapolis ranks in the lower half of the league in total yards allowed, with nearly 350 yards per game. The Colts have also let their opponents score an average of 22.9 points per game (18th in the NFL).

The Colts major problem however, has been their inability to stop the run. So far this NFL expert pick season, the Colts have permitted opposing running backs to average 4.9 yards per attempt (last in the NFL). Indianapolis has also allowed a total of 12 rushing touchdowns (28th).

This matchup against Indianapolis defense is perfect for Jason Garrett and the Cowboys to bounce back after an NFL expert pick loss.

Marcello’s Prediction: Dallas Cowboys: 27 Indianapolis Colts: 23

NFL Expert Pick: Dallas Cowboys +5
