NFL Betting Online - NFC North Bet - Vikings And Lions Fight For First Victory

Despite starting their NFL betting season 0-2, the Minnesota Vikings (-11.5) are massive favorites this week against their NFC North bet rivals, the Detroit Lions.

There isn’t a team in the NFL more deserving of a win than the Detroit Lions this year. After getting completely hosed by a terrible call on a definite touchdown catch from Calvin Johnson in a Week 1 loss to the Bears and coming within a field goal of the Philadelphia Eagles last week, the Lions simply don’t deserve to be 0-2.

The Lions have averaged 23 points per game this year, in large part due to probably the best running back they’ve had since Barry Sanders.

Rookie tailback Jahvid Best already has five touchdowns on the year and 268 total yards of offense, displaying a type of versatility that has been sorely missed in the Motor City since Sanders’ retirement in 1998.

Despite the loss of starting quarterback Matt Stafford in Week 1, backup Shaun Hill recorded a strong performance against a typically stout Eagles defense, throwing for 335 yards and two touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings, however, have had a tough time getting on the same page. Turnovers and miscues have highlighted a surprise 0-2 start for the defending NFC North bet division champions.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has been intercepted four times and his 56.1 quarterback rating is the worst of his career and a far cry from the 107.2 passer rating he posted last year. I guess this is what happens when you stop going to training camp, right Brett?

In addition, the Vikings have scored just 19 points on the season, second worst only to the Buffalo Bills 17.

I don’t see the Vikings offense improving anytime soon, with the absence of wide receiver Sidney Rice and the news that Percy Harvin’s migraines have returned and continue to hamper the 2009 Rookie of Year’s NFL career.
