NFL Betting Lines
Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5
New York Jets +3.5
Total 38.5

Giving credit where credit is due, I must congratulate the New York Jets on their NFL betting lines postseason thus far.

Having defeated Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts 17-16 in Lucas Oil Stadium would have already been a success story for most teams in the NFL. But to come back the following week and shut down Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 28-21 in Gillette Stadium is something else.

The biggest reason for the Jets’ recent success is the massive improvement their NFL betting lines offense has made since their Week 14 10-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Reaching nearly 700 total yards in their past two playoff games is a remarkable feat for any team, but especially for one with a 2-year-pro quarterback.

Mark Sanchez has performed surprisingly well in his past two NFL betting lines games. The 24-year-old signal caller has limited his errors, throwing only 1 interception this postseason, while scoring 3 touchdowns.

Unfortunately, I do not predict him repeating his success this Sunday against the Steel Curtain.

Sanchez’ previous two matchups were against relatively soft defenses: Indianapolis (ranked 20th in total defense among the NFL) and New England (25th).

This NFL betting lines Sunday, however, he will not succeed against the league’s best defense.

The Steelers are positioned first in multiple defensive categories this season. They have allowed an average of only 14.5 points (1st), 62.8 rushing yards (1st), and 276.8 total yards (2nd) per game.

Especially after beating their arch rivals the Baltimore Ravens last NFL betting lines Sunday, Pittsburgh has loads of momentum and consequently, they will in no way, shape, or form be halted on their route to the Super Bowl.

Marcello’s Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers: 25 New York Jets: 16

Messina Mention: New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has not yet called this matchup a “personal coaching battle” against Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

NFL Betting Lines: Pittsburgh Steelers -3.5
