MNF Betting - NFC North Bet Rivalry - Packers vs. Bears

Posted by Jackson Anthony on 10/5/2010 5:38:26 PM

Who’d a thunk that Minnesota would have to wait until an NFC North bet matchup against Detroit in Week 3 for their first victory of the 2010 season and that the Dallas Cowboys would lose their first two games to Washington and Chicago?

Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

Soldier Field, Chicago, IL

8:30 PM ET, September 27, 2010

Broadcast: ESPN

MNF Betting odds:

Green Bay Packers -3

Chicago Bears +3

Total 46

It seems just as unlikely that the Chicago Bears would be one of only two teams in the NFC left undefeated just two games into the 2010 NFC North bet season, especially after the year they had in 2009.

The Bears tumultuous 7-9 season a year ago was marred with injuries and self-destruction. All-pro middle linebacker Brian Urlacher was lost for the season in Week 1 and Jay Cutler’s league-leading 26 interceptions were just two of the headlining factors that contributed to Chicago’s losing NFL betting campaign.

This year however, under the direction of Mike Martz, the Bears offense seems to have a chemistry that hasn’t been seen in Chicago since, dare I say, Jim McMahon was quarterback in the 1980s.

In a twisting turn of events, Cutler now leads the NFL with an efficiency rating of 121.2, ahead of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees. He has already thrown five touchdowns, completed 68.8 percent of his passes, while tossing just one interception.

Unfortunately for Cutler and the Bears offense, they will face their toughest test this season in a MNF betting matchup against their NFC North bet rivals, the Green Bay Packers.

The Green Bay defense, typically known for its ability to create turnovers, has added another dimension in 2010 with the emergence of line backer Clay Matthews. Just two games into his sophomore campaign, Matthews already has six sacks, six tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble.

To make matters worse on their competition in the NFC North bet division, the Packers offense has performed as expected, putting up 61 points and having a +34 point differential on the season.

MNF betting pick: Green Bay -3

Green Bay Packers Cover If…

1. They win the turnover battle by 2 or more

2. If Cutler throws two touchdowns or less

3. If Packers have more total yardage than the Bears
