VIDEO: Carson Palmer To Carry On Tradition Of Great Quarterbacks In Oakland

Although they came away with a win, the Oakland Raiders lost starting quarterback Jason Campbell for 6 weeks when he suffered a broken collarbone in their 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

The Raiders (4-2), known for their history of talented signal callers, seemed panicked with having to replace Campbell with either Kyle Boller or rookie Terrelle Pryor.

Maybe, Oakland is a bit scared of the past. Since 2003, Oakland hasn’t had one quarterback start all 16 regular season games and their 2009 quarterback-by-committee, which included JaMarcus Russell, Bruce Gradkowski, and Charlie Frye was especially talented.

Russell, Gradkowski, and Frye all have more interceptions than touchdowns in their careers.

It’s no wonder that Carson Palmer would be considered great. He’s also won such accolades including: NFL Alumni Quarterback of the Year (2005) and FedEx Air Player of the Year (2005).

But, the Raiders strive for a broken-down, mediocre quarterback is actually an upgrade from what they’ve had under center in the past 10 years.
