NFL Betting Online: AFC North Bet Preview

Posted by Jackson Anthony on 10/5/2010 5:40:09 PM

A surprise start for one of the best conferences in football, the AFC North bet division is led by a 2-0 Roethlisberger-less Steelers team that has resorted to an old school Pittsburgh mentality of ‘defense wins championships.’

AFC North Bet Odds:
Baltimore Ravens +125
Pittsburgh Steelers +175
Cincinnati Bengals +225
Cleveland Browns +6500

1. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0)

The Steelers have been exceptionally good at the start of their 2010-11 NFL betting online campaign. After beating Atlanta on the road in overtime 15-9 in Week 1 and following up with a 19-11 victory at home against the Titans last week, the Terrible Towel nation has come back to life.

After a putrid 9-7 season last year, that included a 5-game losing streak, not many NFL bettors thought the Steelers would start 2-0, especially without quarterback Ben Roethisberger for the first three weeks of the regular NFL betting online season.

However, it seems the return of all-pro safety Troy Polamalu may have been overshadowed by the absence of Big Ben. Polamalu missed 11 games last season due to a knee injury and the Pittsburgh defense wasn’t the same without him.

Check out our reader voting results for who is more important to the Steelers here.

The Steelers (+175) to win the AFC North would be an excellent early season futures play.

2. Cincinnati (1-1)

After looking absolutely terrible in a season opening loss to New England, the Bengals bounced back for a 15-10 hard fought win against AFC North bet division rival, Baltimore Ravens.

The Bengals will hit the nice part of their schedule in the next three weeks, playing Carolina, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay but they are too inconsistent to warrant a second consecutive division championship.

Plus, they are just one T.O. / Ochocinco argument away from falling apart.

3. Baltimore (1-1)

Opposing defenses have kept running back Ray Rice in check thus far and quarterback Joe Flacco has been awful – five picks in two games. If it weren’t for their defense, the Ravens would be 0-2.

The Ravens are still the division favorite because of their defense and the offensive unit can’t play any worse. Rice should get back on track against Cleveland this week and hopefully Flacco will be able to take care of the football./p>

AA big AFC North bet week 4 matchup at Pittsburgh could be one of the most important matchups of the season for Baltimore.

4. Cleveland (0-2)

Losses to Tampa Bay and Kansas City have the Browns at 0-2. Simply no chance to win the AFC North bet division for probably the worst team in the NFL.

Our predictions for the AFC North bet division standings:

Pittsburgh Steelers 12-4
Baltimore Ravens 10-6
Cincinnati Bengals 9-7
Cleveland Browns 3-13
