AFC North Bet – New Orleans Saints Host Pittsburgh Steelers

Posted by Marcello Messina on 10/30/2010 9:14:00 PM

After their 30-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns last week, the New Orleans Saints have posted an uninspiring 2-3 record in their past five North Bet matchups.

(5-1) Pittsburgh Steelers at (4-3) New Orleans Saints
Live from Louisiana Superdome - LA
Kickoff: 8:20 PM EST Sunday, October 31, 2010
Broadcast: NBC

NorthBet NFL Betting Online:
New Orleans Saints -1
Pittsburgh Steelers +1
Total 44

The Saints are hardly looking like the team that won the Super Bowl last North Bet season.

In their last five games, New Orleans has only beaten the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and feeble Carolina Panthers.

In Week 3, the Saints lost 27-20 in overtime to their NFC South divisional rival Atlanta Falcons. Two weeks later, New Orleans was defeated by the Arizona Cardinals by ten, and last North Bet Sunday, the Saints lost to the previously 1-5 Cleveland Browns.

Messina Mention: Drew Brees has a career 0-3 record against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Against Cleveland, Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw a career-high 4 interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns.

The deciding factor in this week’s matchup is whether or not the Saints can get their 2009 number one offense rolling against Pittsburgh’s tough defense.

However, I just don’t see that happening this North Bet Sunday. If Cleveland has all the tools necessary to contain New Orleans offense, than I shutter to think of what Pittsburgh will be able to do to Drew Brees and company.

The Steelers have the second-ranked defense in the NFL, allowing less than 300 total yards per game. Pittsburgh has also given up the least amount of points in the league - 19 fewer than the second overall ranked New York Jets defensive unit.

The Steel Curtain has also limited opposing running backs to less than 65 rushing yards.

I wouldn’t bet on the Saints to get anything going offensively in this North Bet matchup against a proven elite defense.

AFC North Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers (+1).
