Week 3 NFL Betting Picks – The Best Bets On Sunday’s Board

Posted by Matthew Forrester on 9/27/2015 7:51:04 AM

Another full slate of games awaits you this Sunday, and I’m here to bring you another handful of Week 3 NFL betting picks so that you can go about your business and turn out some profit.

How you use these picks is up to you, but let’s keep in mind that we’re still about two weeks away from the NFL season really giving us any, meaningful metrics. That means that you should play the overall board with some reserve so you can build up towards the point where we have more to go off when it comes to the 2015 NFL season.

As for these specific games…go absolutely nuts. I have questions about two-thirds of the games we’re seeing this weekend, but these Week 3 NFL betting picks are locked down.

NEW YORK JETS -2 over Philadelphia Eagles (1pm EST)

There are three possible explanations for what’s happening in Philadelphia: 1) The Eagles are too dumb for Chip Kelly’s offense 2) Chip Kelly is a complete *explicative* that his players hate 3) Chip Kelly isn’t nearly as brilliant as he thinks he is Part of coaching is staying ahead of your competition, but at its core, the art of coaching requires an understanding of the personnel you’re working with. You simply can’t game plan beyond your talent. And that’s what it looks like is happening after Philadelphia completely collapsed against the Cowboys.

Now, turn to Ted Bowles and the Jets and you have a guy who understands what he has and how to properly use it. It’s no accident that New York has allowed just 8.5 points per game (1st) against Cleveland and Indianapolis. The short week is scary for New York, but trusting Chip Kelly and Sam Bradford with your money is even scarier.

Indianapolis Colts -3.5 over TENNESSEE TITANS (1pm EST)

Don’t panic with the Colts. They’ve been this team for the past few years, in that they lose to good teams and beat the crap out of bad ones. It happened last year when the only teams they lost to were Pittsburgh, New England, Denver and Dallas and Philadelphia. They beat every other team on the schedule. And they opened last season 0-2 SU as well.

The thing we weren’t expecting is for the Jets and Bills to be as good as they are, and everyone’s been generally blindsided by that fact. So there’s no reason to start calling for the apocalypse in Indianapolis. They’re 7-0 SU and ATS against the Titans. I like Tennessee this year…but not enough to beat Andrew Luck.

San Diego Chargers +1 over MINNESOTA VIINGS (1pm EST)

So how’s that hype train bound for Minnesota doing? The Vikings were everyone’s preseason favorite to take the proverbial leap, but they have yet to show any life on offence or defense. They beat Detroit last weekend, and San Diego decimated those guys the week before.

I still have lofty hopes for the Vikings as an outside shot once the public has cooled down on them, but I’m not willing to give up on the Chargers in Week 3 NFL betting picks. Good things happen when they force feed Keenan Allen, and the Vikings don’t have anyone in the secondary who can stop him. The Chargers are a great take here as road dogs on the moneyline or with the spread.

ARIZONA CARDINALS -6.5 over San Francisco 49ers (4:05pm EST)

I truly want to be optimistic about the 49ers. They experienced an absolute whooping at the hands of the Steelers. But there’s nothing to suggest that a rebound effort is possible here. The Cardinals have always had a tactical defense, and they’ll be ready to limit with Carlos Hyde can do to get the Niners rolling.

San Francisco is also just 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall, and 1-3-1 ATS when playing a team on the road that has a winning home record. Against division opponents, the Niners are also a brutal 0-3-1 ATS.

With one team coming off the wrong end of a beatdown, and the other one coming off the right side of a can kicking, I’m going with the team that’s been a consistently rewarding betting choice as opposed to the one that hasn’t.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS -15.5 over Chicago Bears (4:25pm EST)

Seahawks at home. Seahawks needing a win. Seahawks against Jimmy Clausen. Of the two games that have gigantic spreads, this is the game to lock in. Kam Chancellor’s return will only stiffen a Seahawks defense that is already very good. I prefer this matchup over the Jaguars at Patriots, which has a similar Week 3 NFL betting line, for all the reasons you just read.
