NFL Week 13 Betting Picks – Are Kansas, Tampa, Giants Ready For Big Time?

Posted by Matthew Forrester on 12/6/2015 8:48:23 AM

It’s time to attack the weekend lines with another slate of NFL Week 13 betting picks! These games have some hefty implications for the playoffs, with the exception being Carolina attempting to keep its undefeated season intact against the Saints. Let’s get to it.

NEW YORK GIANTS +2.5 over New York Jets

Saturday, December 6th --- 1pm EST

I’m done believing that the Jets are going to get over the hump. Ryan Fitzpatrick is loaded with talent around him, but he’s just not scary enough as a passer to force opposing defenses in to mistakes. Granted, the Marshall-Decker combination can wreak absolute havoc on this awful secondary, but the Jets are just 2-4 SU and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games. Considering how good they’re supposed to be, the Jets are one of the most disappointing teams in the league.

For a defense so loaded, the Jets don’t do a whole lot to stop opponents. They were pitching a shutout against Miami, but has more to do with the Dolphins that it does with these guys.

The Giants hasn’t been the most solid pick, but one thing you have to love about them is their propensity to put up points in tough situations. Washington buried them early last week and the Giants almost came back. The weeks prior, they dropped an average of 36.0 against the Bucs, Saints and Cowboys.

In terms of NFL week 13 betting picks, I just outright prefer the Giants’ offensive consistency over the Jets’ inability to show up on a weekly basis. Make no mistake: the Jets grade out as a far better team, but the Giants are the more reliable bet, especially as a home dog.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS -1 over Atlanta Falcons

Saturday, December 6th --- 1pm EST

Things are about to go from bad to awful as the free falling Falcons continue their losing ways. At just 2-5 SU and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games, the Falcons simply don’t have the offensive resiliency that hallmarked the early part of their schedule. If you’re looking for a reason justifying this line, it’s that Atlanta holds a -2.5 point differential over those last seven games.

One of the difficulties in leveraging a play for this game in NFL Week 13 betting picks is Tampa’s territorial performances. Away from home, Tampa has a 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS record with a +2.3 scoring differential that’s in large part to their +28.0 spanking of Philadelphia. Without that win, that differential drops to -2.8.

At home, that point differential drops to an awful -9.2. There was the Week 1 blowout against Tennessee, a 9-19 loss against Houston and the absurd 18-32 defeat at the hands of the Giants just a few weeks ago. At home, Tampa is just 2-3 ATS.,/p>

So airing on the side of caution is really important here. Do you take the team that performs awfully at home, or the one that is in such dire straights that there’s actual talk that their $100 million quarterback might be released after next season?

You side with the one that has less drama. The pressure is mounting in Atlanta and the damn will burst against a Tampa team that is getting healthier and more dangerous as the weeks go by.

Carolina Panthers -6.5 over NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Saturday, December 6th --- 4:25pm EST

Traditionally, the NFC South tilts are hard to gauge, but the Saints are making things really easy. The Saints are mired in a brutal 3-4 SU and 2-4-1 ATS stretch which includes a three game losing streak. They’ve also plummeted in terms of any defensive respectability, and face the league’s third best scoring team. Carolina has been one of the most automatic plays all year, going 9-2 ATS, and are a no brainer in NFL Week 13 betting picks. With the way they grind out wins on both sides of the ball, you should probably be standing behind them each and every week if you aren’t already. Also…why aren’t you already?!

Kansas City Chiefs -3 over OAKLAND RAIDERS

Saturday, December 6th --- 4:05pm EST

The Chiefs are the hottest trending team in the league right now, boasting a 5-0 SU and ATS record, so they’re an obvious choice in NFL Week 13 betting picks. Now that they have a serious one-two punch in Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware, the balance on offence is unbelievable. The Raiders are ranked 27th in total defense, giving up 391.0 yards and 25.5 points against. They’re also in a 1-3 SU and ATS, downward spiral and simply can’t be trusted.

WASHINGTON REDKSINS -4 over Dallas Cowboys

Monday, December 7th --- 8:30pm EST

Usually the prime time games get more love from yours truly, but with Tony Romo out, this game becomes a lot simpler. Dallas still has a great defense despite their overall numbers, but they can’t score any points which is the biggest reason that they’re 3-8 ATS on the season. Washington has gone 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS when playing at home, and while you may be leery of an NFC East matchup, the home town laying decent points is the better lean in NFL Week 13 betting picks.
