NBA Lines: Nuggets Struggle with Thunder

Posted by Ashley Carmichael on 4/5/2011 8:13:12 AM

Since the Denver Nuggets traded away Carmelo Anthony, Denver has won 15 of 19 NBA lines games.

The Nuggets remain the top scoring team in NBA Lines, and look to defeat another elite team from the Western Conference.

You would think after trading away their franchise player, the Denver Nuggets would be in a rebuilding stage.  However, Denver has been playing outstanding basketball lately, beating the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs.

The Nuggets have impressed everyone so far; defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder would be another surprise.  However the Thunder provide match-up problems almost at every position.

Who is going to cover Kevin Durant?  Maybe Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler, but Durant is longer and can shoot over him.  Maybe Denver forward Danilo Gallinari, however Durant is much quicker and can get to the basket on the slower Gallinari.  Durant is going to win his second scoring title in two years, averaging 27.7 points per game.

The point guard match-up is a miss for Denver as well.  According to NBA Lines, the all-star point guard, Russell Westbrook, of the Oklahoma City Thunder is averaging 21.8 points and 8.3 assists per game this season.  The small guard for Denver, Ty Lawson, will have troubles defending a bigger guard.

Despite the Nuggets late surge, the Thunder have too many weapons to for Denver to contain.

NBA Lines – Oklahoma City Thunder (+4.5)
