There is no NBA lines game I’d rather watch.

Over the past half a decade, the Celtics-Lakers rivalry has been rejuvenated. In their first matchup of the year on January 30, the Celtics defeated the Lakers in the Staples Center 109-96.

During that game, Paul Pierce proved to be the breadwinner for Boston, scoring 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting (61.1%), and 3-of-5 from 3-point range (66.7%) while hitting all seven of his free throws.

Nielson Notice: Paul Pierce averages 26 points per game against the Los Angeles Lakers – more than any other NBA team.

Behind Pierce on the Celtics’ stat sheet was shooting guard Ray Allen with 21 points and power forward Kevin Garnett with 18. Point guard Rajon Rondo and substitutes Nate Robinson and Glen Davis also reached double-digit points in the NBA lines game.

Kobe Bryant, meanwhile carried the Lakers with his 41 points.

Fortunately enough for Boston, none of Los Angeles’ other starters topped 12 points.

The Celtics forced Bryant to do everything on his own. Kobe took 29 of the Lakers’ 66 shots (43.9%) during the NBA lines match, sinking only 16 of them.

Boston’s league-leading defense clearly had the Lakers in a funk throughout the entire match, and will be looking to do so again this NBA lines Thursday.

The Celtics are first overall in the NBA in regards to total defense, surrendering an average of just 91.5 points per game so far this season.

Boston also ranks in the top 5 in field goal percentage (3rd), turnovers (3rd) and assists (1st).

Brett’s Prediction: Boston Celtics: 113, Los Angeles Lakers: 99

NBA Lines Pick: Boston Celtics (-2.5)
