‘Should I be who you want me to be?’ It doesn’t quite have the same impact in print, but when LeBron James said that in his NBA lines Nike commercial, he was undoubtedly sounding off on some of the fans of New York and Cleveland for criticizing his choice to play in Miami.

When it comes to what people expect (apart from winning an NBA Championship), LeBron James has been a player that has consistently managed to exceed even the loftiest of expectations.

The first overall pick coming out of high school in 2003, James had to have a brilliant first NBA lines season to fight off the growing criticism attributed to high school players entering the draft.

In the 2001 NBA Draft, Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, and Eddy Curry were all lottery picks and had immense difficulty adjusting to the professional game.

LeBron also needed to standout from a rookie class that may have just been the best ever.

In his first NBA lines game, James posted 25 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds in what was the most impressive NBA debut of any high school player to ever enter the Draft.

LeBron went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year and four years later, James was awarded his first and second NBA Most Valuable Player awards in back-to-back seasons.

A championship ring, however has always managed to elude James.

After rerouting his career to Miami, joining perennial all-star Dwayne Wade, LeBron was chastised by Cleveland fans and even the team owner.

New York Knicks fans also downed a glass of Hatorade during ‘The Decision’ and are awaiting the King tonight.

Knicks fans at Madison Square Garden would be best advised to keep their mouths closed (but they won’t of course) after what James did to his ex-team two weeks ago.

In a 118-90 win, LeBron lit up the Cavaliers for 38 points in just 30 minutes.

James with a chip on his shoulder and fueled by the lights of Madison Square Garden, will have another explosive effort.
