Finally playing at home, the Miami Heat will be looking to shift this series their way with their second consecutive NBA lines victory.

The Heat caught a break last NBA lines Wednesday when they defeated the Chicago Bulls in the United Center, preventing a 0-2 series opening. In that match, none other than LeBron James proved to be the deciding factor.

With five minutes left in the fourth quarter, the game was still tied up at 73. But James came up big down the stretch with two 3-pointers and a layup to solidify Miami’s 10-point victory.

Although the Heat went on a 12-2 run during the last five minutes of the game, their victory was not won on the offensive side of the court. Rather, their NBA lines win came as a result of their stellar defense late in the game.

The Heat found a way to completely shut down Derrick Rose in the fourth quarter. In Game 1 of the series, Miami was leaving their 33-year-old point guard with man-to-man defense against the league’s MVP. This was clearly ineffective as Rose scored 28 points in that NBA lines match and shot 45.5 percent from the field.

In Game 2, Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra ordered All-Stars LeBron James and Dwayne Wade to alter man coverage with Rose.

This turned out to be a great decision by Spoelstra, as Rose couldn’t get around James or Wade because of their size and strength. With 42 minutes of game-time, the 190-lbs point guard shot 30.4 percent from the field and missed all three of his 3-point attempts.

Late in the fourth quarter when Chicago needed their MVP the most, he was nearly invisible, throwing two air balls from downtown and missing a layup.

Expect the Miami Heat to continue to give Derrick Rose the same defensive coverage as Game 2, and quite possibly win this series sooner than expected.

Marcello’s Prediction: Miami Heat: 103, Chicago Bulls: 94

NBA Lines Pick: Miami Heat -5
