NBA Lines
Boston Celtics -4.5
Utah Jazz +4.5
Total 188.5

With a win this NBA lines Monday, the Utah Jazz (32-28) – who are currently seeded 9th in the Western Conference – can gain an edge on the Memphis Grizzlies (33-27) for the final spot in the 2011 playoffs.

Unfortunately, Utah’s head coach Jerry Sloan will have his hands full trying to best the Celtics without his star player Deron Williams.

The Jazz traded Williams to the New Jersey Nets on February 24, receiving Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, two first-round draft picks and $3 million in cash in return.

This season in Utah, the 26-year-old Deron Williams was performing like the two-time NBA All-Star that he is.

Before leaving his five-year home, D-Will was averaging 21.1 points per game (3rd amongst all point guards), while shooting 45.4 form the field and 33.6 percent from 3-point range.

His replacement, Devin Harris, has not performed all too well in his first two games with the Jazz. Harris has scored only 31 points during those two NBA lines matches combined, while also turning the ball over seven times.

I don’t expect Utah to gain any sort of chemistry this Monday against the Celtics despite playing at home.

Boston currently holds the title as the best defense in the league, and this is precisely why they hold the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics have allowed just 91.2 points against per game all NBA lines season long. And haven’t surrendered over 94 points in their last 8 contests.

In their one and only matchup this season, the Celtics dominated, winning 110-86.

Boston completely shut down Utah’s top performer, Deron Williams, holding him to an NBA lines season-low 5 points, on 1-of-4 field goals, missing all three of his three-point attempts.

Marcello’s Prediction: Boston Celtics: 113, Utah Jazz: 92

Messina Mention: The Utah Jazz are 1-2 since trading Deron Williams.

NBA Lines Pick: Boston Celtics (-4.5)
