Last Chance For Getting The Best NBA Futures Bets

Posted by Matthew Forrester on 4/8/2016 10:55:16 AM

Next week is the final slate of NBA games, and there’s a lot going on. Kobe Bryant will play in his final game on Wednesday against the Jazz, and the Golden State Warriors continue to chase Michael Jordan in the history books. Playoff lives are at stake all over the standings and LeBron James will try to build some last-minute momentum.

That means that this is your last chance to get in on the ground floor of the NBA Championship futures, where a scattered play in a smart direction can pay off huge dividends in June. Here’s a look at some of the best NBA futures bets from our board.

Don’t forget to check out the equally tempting conference championship odds as well!

1. Golden State Warriors (-135 to win NBA Championship)

The Warriors should be everyone’s top team to hoist the trophy. They did it last year, the oddsmakers prefer them and – above all else – they’re a young team. Many people are making a big deal about the fatigue that seems to be setting in lately. Blowing a 17-point lead against the Timberwolves only helped further that conversation.

However, it should be noted that the Warriors aren’t just really good at basketball, they’re a young team. That means that their ability to recover and rejuvenate during the playoffs is a lot more efficient than other, older teams.

If you really love the Warriors as many others do, then there’s no reason to hold back here unless you feel like any team below is an actual threat. The value on the Warriors is only going to get worse, so get it while its hot.

2. San Antonio Spurs (+271 to win NBA Championship)

If we’re talking about value, then the Spurs are the best NBA futures bet you could possible make. This team is not only putting together one of the best records in NBA history, they’ve proven that they can dismantle the Golden State Warriors when they play their full complement. The other big consideration is that San Antonio has managed the minutes of their star players well, and will enter the playoffs fully focused and ready to repeat their effort from two years ago. The Warriors seem unstoppable, but there is one team that can absolutely ruin their lives. You’re looking at them.

3. Cleveland Cavaliers (+325 to win NBA Championship)

This is all about how you feel about LeBron James as a leader. His team has reeked of dysfunction and chemistry problems all season. Will it matter come playoff time? I’m not so sure. Winning has a way of healing everything, and this team is far superior to many of the opponents they’ll face up until the Eastern Conference Finals. Part of being amongst the best NBA Futures bets is getting to the ship. Cleveland basically slept walk their way there last season. That’s how good they are, even if they’re carrying an excess of drama along with them.

4. Toronto Raptors (+3800 to win NBA Championship)

Yeah, the odds jump pretty high after the top three teams. Toronto remains a great talking point when bringing up the best NBA futures bets, only because of how ridiculous the pay off would be. The key here is to track the health of Demarre Carrol. Injured or not, he is the difference between Toronto actually beating Cleveland or going home early. This is worth $50 isn’t it? At 32/1? C’mon!

5. Oklahoma City Thunder (+1600 to win NBA Championship)

If this is the last hurrah for the Durant-Westbrook combination, then you can bet that this pair is going to go out guns blazing. I love these two guys, and the franchise has finally built a competent team around them that suitably compliments their skill sets. I actually prefer Oklahoma City as a Western Conference bet with +800 odds in that market, but this is just a hopeful chip shot. I want Durant-Westbrook together for the rest of time. Can you blame me for being selfish? I’m a gambler!
