The New York Knicks bought Brewer out of his contract earlier last week, occurring only a few days after he was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Carmelo Anthony trade.
The Mavericks signed the 6’9”, 198-pound shooting guard in hopes that he will be a valuable asset for their playoff run.
Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said, “he’s got an opportunity to help us this year. This is one of those situations where, at this point, if we can get a guy who can help us situationally or if he even ends up playing more, if he can help us get one stop at the right time, it’s a good move for us.”
According to sources, the Mavericks signed Brewer for a three-year contract worth approximately $7.5 million. He is set to make $2.3 million for the remainder of this season, approximately $2.5 million next season, and around $2.7 million the following year.
Not only will Corey Brewer become a valuable asset for the Mavs this NBA lines season, but he can easily become a precious long-term talent for Dallas.
If Brewer – who just turned 25 years old – can prove to mix effectively with 23-year-old shooting guard Rodrigue Beaubois, then the NBA lines Mavericks could be looking at a deep roster in the long run.
